One of these different places in shape, architecture and history is the Mall of Sofia. The shopping centre is one of the oldest shopping centres after the Central Department Store. The store was built and opened in 1957 in communist Bulgaria.
Mall of Sofia shopping centre is located in the centre of the Bulgarian capital, where Alexander Stamboliyski Boulevard and Opalchenska Street meet. In the same building, above the mall, is the office complex Sofia Tower.
The project for the new shopping centre appeared in the public in 2003 and the building itself was ready and opened three years later, on 9 June 2006.
Mall of Sofia is situated on the total area of 70, 000 m² and has four floors. 35,000 m² of the total area go for the commercial and entertainment sector. 10,000 m² are offices. Another 22,000 m² are for the underground parking place. Then, the rest of the 8,000 m² is occupied by service and common areas.
