Arrive as strangers in private Sofia tour, leave as friends
Private Sofia tour – We are a Bulgaria registered travel agency with the key aim of introducing and expanding the knowledge about Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and Bulgaria itself, in the home of Thracians, Slavs, Romans, Turks, Bulgarians…
We have more than ten years of experience in tourism and we are happy to define ourselves as lucky. Lucky for doing what we like – travelling, exploring places in Bulgaria and popularising them, and being able to make a living at it. What they say: Do what you love and you’ll never work another day in your life.
I have my doubts if this is the right place to tell a story (between the lucky part and the loveliest place on Earth, Bulgaria). Why not?
I was seventeen and following year was going to be my last in school. I had already been dancing Bulgarian folk dances for five years. It had been more or less four years after the falling of communism when the offer came. We were invited to travel abroad and take part in a festival about music and dancing. My goodness! We travelled four days in one of those noisy, extremely ‘comfortable’ buses Bulgaria was producing at the time. Did any of us care? Of course, not. We were travelling. We were going to see another place, another culture, another world…
Imagine the explosive combination
I am not going into many details. One thing only – imagine the explosive combination of being a teenager, never having been abroad, part of a communist society and a completely different world where music and dances were the most important… Believe me, when I say explosive combination. When we were back, my parents couldn’t make me take my shower or relax. They were immediately instructed to only stay still and listen to what I have to say. I had a lot to say – an emotional teenager who loved travelling and still does (though not quite a teenager). Myself kept on talking for hours. I was sitting down, standing up, while my body was talking together with me. That was an experience for me I would never forget.
